Routes & Maps

The Pedal Away Alzheimer’s maps are forthcoming and will be posted on the website in the coming months.  The routes are beautiful and will start at the Austin County Fair and Convention grounds and proceed through quiet, country roads with gradual rolling hills and scenic fields and meadows.

Mechanical Support

It is with great pleasure that we let you know our friends at Bike Barn and Sun & Ski will provide mechanical support for participants at the start as well as key rest stops.

Lodging

While Bellville, Texas is just about a 45 minute drive from the west side of Houston, some of us don’t like to wake up too early and drive out to the country on ride morning.  As a result, we suggest you consider the hotel or RV park noted below:

  • Budget Inn 111 E Main St, Bellville, TX 77418 - (979) 865-9121.  (Limited number of rooms have been reserved - mention Ready2Roll Cycling for the special $50/night rate).

FAQ’s

What happens if it rains?

We ride rain or shine, however safety is our number one priority.  In the event of lightning or other dangerous conditions, we will delay the event until conditions improve. Please watch for weather-related updates via email as well as the event Hotline number at (281) 907-9007 and our Facebook page (Ready2Roll Cycling).

Are walk-up registrations available?

Yes.  It is certainly in the best interest of the participant and ride organizer to have riders pre-register as we can better determine the extent of food and other resources needed prior to ride day.  However, if your timing doesn’t allow, we welcome you to register on ride day September 16, but get there early as we expect a large turnout.

Can children participate?

Cyclists must be 12 years old or older by the start of the event and minors are required to be accompanied by a parent/guardian at all times. No child carriers, tag-alongs, or trailers are allowed. All cyclists under the age of 18 must provide a notarized waiver. Please contact us to request a printable waiver, or visit our website Ready2RollCycling.com to download the waiver and for more details.

Do I have to wear a helmet?

YES! For your own safety, helmets are required and mandatory.  Absolutely no exceptions.  If you forget your helmet, check with the Information Table at the start as we might have a spare helmet to borrow at your own risk, of course.

Can friends and family join me at the ride?

Family and friends are always welcome at our start and finish locations, but please don’t have them drive out on the course.  We welcome your friends and family to consider volunteering as that will allow them to see you on the ride while helping make a huge impact with the event.  To volunteer, contact Jan Cohen at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Can I have someone follow me in case I don't make it?

No, please no!  We have a great team of SAG (Support and Gear) volunteers that will transport riders having difficulty.  For everyone’s safety, please discourage friends and family from driving their vehicles on the course.

Are pets allowed?

Pets are prohibited at the ride.

Where do the registration funds go?

The ride will donate a portion of the proceeds to the Alzheimer’s Association, thereby helping make a difference for those lives impacted by Alzheimer’s and dementia.  Additional optional donations made to the Alzheimer’s Association are greatly appreciated and can be accomplished during the registration process.
